What Are PFAS?
PFAS, or per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, represent a category of synthetic compounds termed "forever chemicals." Known for their extraordinary environmental persistence, these substances can endure for centuries due to their resistance to degradation. Consequently, they can pose significant health risks, contributing to various ailments such as liver and thyroid issues, developmental disorders, metabolic disruption, neurotoxicity, immunotoxicity, and more. Regrettably, these harmful chemicals are abundant in everyday household items, including but not limited to microwavable popcorn bags, nail polish, non-stick cookware, dental floss, toilet paper, and carpeting.

What is SYNLawn Sacramento Artificial Turf Made Of?
SYNLawn Sacramento is proud to be the first and only provider of plant-based artificial grass in Sacramento, CA. We replace large portions of petroleum components in our manufacturing process with renewable soybeans and sugarcane. We are grateful to work closely with U.S. soy farmers at our in-house facility in Dalton, GA, where we can help ensure that our artificial turf meets environmental standards. Since 2008, we have cultivated our relationship, opened the door for new job opportunities, and become the first provider of USDA-certified turf options in our area.
In addition, many other manufacturers utilize rubber crumb infill to help keep their turf blades standing up. Unfortunately, rubber crumbs are another source of PFAS. SYNLawn Sacramento never uses rubber crumbs. Instead, we utilize eco-friendly Envirofill®. Envirofill® is an acrylic sand infill system that is a highly effective alternative that can also help control pet stains and odors caused by the ammonia in pet waste.
