Natural grass runs the risk of igniting in an uncontrollable blaze that can result in extreme and sometimes fatal injury as well as incredible property damage. In response to this, SYNLawn created artificial turf products that help prevent the spread of fire. Our fire-rated synthetic grass undergoes extensive testing and is designed to extend the time window first responders have to arrive to extinguish the blaze.
In addition, Sacramento artificial turf can in some cases save you money on insurance if you live in an area that may be prone to fire outbreaks. Our inclusion of infill allows fibers to avoid drying out, unlike traditional grass that needs constant maintenance to survive in hot climates. This alone prevents dry fires from starting. While fires are sometimes unpredictable, SYNLawn continues to research more ways that we can further our commitment to fire safety.
The Only Sacramento Artificial Turf with a Class A Fire Rating
Back in 2016, a fire on the 14th floor of the Cosmopolitan Hotel broke out and panic followed with it. On top of the hotel was our 100% nylon SYNRye 211 and had it not been for its installation, the situation would have been far beyond what it was. Thanks to our product’s ASTM E108 Class A fire rating, we were directly credited with containing the fire.
Competitor products have a terrible time standing out to infrared light and intense sun exposure, so when the Cosmopolitan’s previous installation started melting, they knew they needed to make a drastic change. SYNLawn® was then enlisted to replace the faulty turf with 13,000 square feet of ultra-realistic, technologically advanced, fire-resistant Sacramento synthetic turf.

At SYNLawn, our products must pass 8 fire safety tests to ensure they meet our exceptionally high standards:
- Four burning tests: two flame spread tests, and two intermittent flame tests
- Intermittent flame tests require fifteen 2 min exposures to 1400° F flames with 2 min intervals between each exposure
- A spread of flame test requires a single 10 min exposure to
- 1400-degree flame
- All tests are performed in the presence 1056 + 44y min air velocity
